Contractors closed the old Brush Creek Bridge, built in 1957 west of Pilot Grove, on Feb. 19 in order to replace the one-lane bridge, poor-condition bridge with a new wider, safer bridge that is striped for two-way traffic. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $764, 119.69 contract to Widel, Inc. to complete the project. The contractor was able to complete the project on schedule, but roadway flooding delayed the reopening. Crews opened the new bridge to all traffic today, Thursday, May 2, 2024. The next segment will resurface from the city of Owensville east to U.S. Route 50.    Construction crews will begin the pavement improvements in Owensville on May 6, weather permitting. While within city limits, they will be working nighttime hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. As crews progress east, outside the city limits of Owensville, they will transition to daytime hours Monday through Friday. All work is taking place under single-lane closures with a flagger and pilot car directing motorists through the work zone.   All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.   The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $6,501,051.64 contract to Capital Paving and Construction for this work and pavement improvements on two other routes (including Gasconade County Route EE), all of which is anticipated to be completed by Nov. 1, 2024.  MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones. In the first phase, crews will build crossover lanes to divert future traffic from the northbound to the southbound lanes. The construction of these crossover lanes will result in intermittent lane closures in the northbound and southbound lanes. In the next phase, crews will close the northbound bridge and divert northbound traffic to the southbound lanes via the crossover – reducing both northbound and southbound traffic to one lane each. The northbound bridge will be closed for the remainder of the project. Work on the bridge will include a bridge deck replacement and superstructure work. The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2024. All work is weather permitting. NB I-435 will have a two-lane closure before Raytown Rd. from April 24 through mid-Aug. 2024 NEW: 8 p.m. on May 3 until 8 a.m. on May 4 (approximately) scheduled double lane closure for NB I-435 from just before Raytown Rd. and just past Stadium Dr. for pavement repair (evening/overnight).
