He was tragically killed in the line of duty while conducting a training exercise off the coast of North Carolina.“We owe a tremendous debt to those who are willing to put their lives on the line to serve our state and country,” Governor Parson said. “Sergeant Arslanbas was a young Missourian who dedicated his life to serving his fellow man, while earning several commendation medals and advancing to the rank of Sergeant. His dedication to upholding our Constitution and the freedoms we hold dear will never be forgotten. The First Lady and I extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends during this difficult time."Sergeant Arslanbas was a 2019 graduate of Fort Zumwalt West High School. LOUIS COUNTY – Motorists who travel the Route 67 (Lindbergh) bridge over Route 180 (St. Charles Rock Rd.) may want to consider an alternate route.  Starting Monday, May 6 at 8 p.m., crews will close one northbound and one southbound lane of Route 67 in preparation of rebuilding the bridge. The Route 67 bridge over Route 180 will be rebuilt in two phases. The northbound side of the bridge will close first, and traffic will shift to southbound lanes – one lane of traffic in each direction.  Once completed, the second phase of the project will shift traffic to the northbound side of the bridge while crews work on the southbound side.  The new bridge deck is expected to be completed in December 2024, except for the painting of the girders.  The girder painting will be completed by June 2025.  Motorists should also be aware that beginning Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m., all lanes of Route 180 under the Route 67 bridge will be closed through Monday, May 13 at 5:30 a.m., to allow crews to demolish the northbound portion of the Route 67 bridge. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction in place at the location where crews are actively working. Signs will be utilized for traffic control including message boards to alert motorists of schedule changes. Workers will be present Monday through Friday during daylight hours. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change. The $5.1M contract, awarded earlier this year to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia, Missouri, also includes pavement grooving on two disconnected sections of Eastbound U.S. Route 36 in Shelby County, located between 0.3 mile east of Shelbina to 0.8 mile east of Route PP near Lakenan. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.    Eastbound U.S. Route 54 – Widening continues on eastbound U.S. Route 54 from the Missouri River Bridge to the U.S. Route 63 interchange. Work is on the left shoulder behind a temporary barrier. A 10-foot width restriction is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2024.   Missouri Route 94 – Shoulder work continues from the U.S. Route 54 interchange to Wehmeyer Drive.
