SAM II HR Helpful Hints


With turnover in Payroll and HR positions, and the implementation training well in our past, we thought it would be a good idea to do some "did you know" emails to refresh your memory and reiterate some brief processing tips that may have long been forgotten. The SAMII HR distribution list will be used to send out these helpful hints. We will also post these to a new section of the SAMII HR website under the "Helpful Hints" tab for future reference. Our first helpful hint is a reminder about Deferred Comp enrollments."Did You Know" that new employees can be enrolled under the DEF M code (with match) on the ENRL even though they haven't met the 12 month qualification to receive the $12.50 match? The system looks at the Benefits Progression Date on the ESMT to determine when the employer match will kick in. SAMII HR does it for you automatically after they have met the 12 month requirement. The thing to remember is to back date the Benefit Progression Date for any returning employee who has already qualified at some point in a previous employment period with the State. This will allow the match to start up immediately. Also, this is a dollar based fringe. If an employee goes on a leave of absence without pay and does not make the required minimum $12.50 per pay period contribution, then you need to expire the code until the employee returns to work. This will prevent the $12.50 employer contribution from being made.
