Getting unemployment benefits
Eligible claimants may receive up to 26 weeks of unemployment insurance benefits through the state. The Internet claim filing system is designed to enable you to file a new, renewed or weekly claim. You will not be charged for using this service. File a claim online
Unemployment benefit resources
- Check benefits eligibility – If you recently lost your job through no fault of your own or quit for good cause related to the work or the employer, you may be eligible to receive unemployment benefits.
- Check claim status – Check the status of your unemployment benefits claim with the Division of Employment Security.
- File an appeal – A claimant, an employer, or a licensed attorney can file an appeal following unemployment benefits determination. The appeal process includes a hearing with the an Appeals Tribunal in which both parties have a chance to argue their case and present their evidence.

Unemployment for Military Spouses
Spouses of active members of the military are eligible for unemployment benefits if if they must leave their job to relocation. For more information or to file for unemployment benefits, visit www.moclaim.mo.gov.
Disaster Information
When natural disasters like floods, tornadoes, severe storms, and earthquakes strike; the damage can be overwhelming. The Missouri Department of Labor can assist workers who are unable to work due to a natural disaster in many different ways with unemployment assistance and helping victims who may experience discrimination while relocating to a safer area.
