State law requires the State Auditor to perform a closeout audit after being notified of a vacancy in a county collector's office. The report includes recommendations to ensure annual settlements were complete and accurate and increase oversight of the property tax system. The report also recommended that the county commission review and approve all property tax additions and abatements.
