The length of the improvement is 5.25 miles with anticipated completion by early July. The $3.5M contract was awarded last year to Magruder Paving, LLC of Troy, MO. The contract also includes a 35 mile resurfacing project located on Route E in Montgomery and Lincoln counties, from Interstate 70 in Montgomery County to Route UU in Silex in Lincoln County. This project began in late April. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction in place at the location where crews are actively working for the duration of the project. Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized to direct motorists through the work zone. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change. The meeting will be available for two weeks from Sunday, May 26, through Sunday, June 9, and can be accessed at the project webpage here. Beginning the spring of 2025, contractors will demolish the current bridge and replace it with a new bridge that is 30 feet longer, six (6) feet wider and one (1) foot higher than the old bridge. The project also includes stabilizing the Elk River stream bank northeast of the bridge. The current bridge was built in 1960 with approximately 1,500 vehicles a day crossing it. This bridge is in a deteriorating condition in need of frequent maintenance. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation anticipate restricting all access to the Dry Creek Bridge south of Cherryville, beginning on Monday, June 3. The bridge is expected to reopen after 57 calendar days. The bridge was built in 1961. While the supporting structures are in good condition, the driving surface has deteriorated, and needs replaced. The new bridge deck will be wider with new guardrails installed at all four corners. The bridge will be closed for construction and motorists will need to use an alternate route. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
