PERRY, Mo – A little luck nabbed a record size largemouth bass for 20-year-old Dylan Gilmore of Perry. Gilmore and his friend, Austin Lake, had set their trotline on April 27 using goldfish as bait, hoping to catch some catfish at Ka-Tonka Lake, located in Ka-Tonka Game Preserve and Sporting Clays Club in Ralls County. When they returned the next day to check their line, Gilmore realized they had caught something. When pulling the line to their boat, what he assumed was a catfish instead turned into something a little more.

Tue, 15 May 2012 10:38:29 CST

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will host a public
availability session and public hearing tonight on the draft hazardous waste permit for the Bannister Federal Complex in Kansas City.

The evening will include an availability session that will begin at 6 p.m., a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by a public hearing
scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be located at the IBEW Local 124 Union Hall, 301 E. 103rd Terrace in Kansas City. The public may
review and offer written comments on the draft hazardous waste permit modifications to the department and EPA until May 29.

The Bannister Federal Complex is located at 2000 E. Bannister Road in Kansas City. The U.S. Department of Energy owns the Kansas City
Plant and the U.S. General Services Administration owns the remaining portions of the federal complex. Last September, DOE and GSA
submitted a permit modification request to the department and EPA’s Region 7. The request included modifying DOE’s hazardous waste
permits to, among other things, include the entire Bannister Federal Complex on the permits and add GSA as a permittee.

Both DOE and GSA are currently performing environmental investigation and cleanup activities on their respective portions of the federal
complex under separate environmental programs. The draft permit modifications prepared by the department and EPA propose to conduct
further environmental investigation, monitoring, risk-assessment and cleanup at the federal complex under one set of comprehensive
hazardous waste permits.

Staff will be available to answer questions during the availability session and the public can have their comments about the draft permit
modifications entered into the official record during the public hearing. Electronic copies of the draft permit modifications are available on
the department’s website: dnr.mo.gov/env/hwp/permits/notices.htm.

Hardcopies of the draft permit and supporting documents can be viewed at the following locations:

Phone: 913-551-7979

Squirrels and smallmouth bass make Missouri a great place to hunt and fish.

JEFFERSON CITY–Anglers generally are as disinterested in the opening dates for hunting seasons as hunters are in fishing-season dates, but the fourth Saturday in May is a red-letter day for both groups. That is opening day for squirrel hunting season and catch-and-keep fishing for black bass in Ozark streams.
Hunters may pursue gray and fox squirrels from May 26 through Feb. 15, 2013, with rifles, shotguns or archery equipment. The aggregate bag limit is 10 squirrels and the possession limit is 20.
